Building team capability in quality improvement

The South West AHSN provides training at varying levels, including the Silver Quality Improvement (QI) & Culture Programme. This training is based on the Model for Improvement, originally created by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

The Silver QI & Culture Programme provides teams with the capability to make measurable improvements in systems they work in.

In October 2022, we delivered a second cohort of virtual Silver QI & Culture training and support to 25 participants at NHS Devon. This comprised a half-day onboarding session plus 3 days of training (3 modules).

Participants were those working in internal teams who currently had a QI project or were planning to start one. Topics included improving the bed discharge process, provision of services for people with learning difficulties, effectiveness of patient complaint handling, and elderly care.
