Supporting and developing care homes

Our South West Care Home Network provides a platform for learning and sharing ideas for improving the range of services provided by care homes in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It offers opportunities to hear from care homes and experts in Adult & Social Care about improvements to ways of working.

During 2022/23, we held four South West Care Home Network events. These events brought together care home managers and staff, leaders, Integrated Care Boards, local authorities and experts from across the sector, to look at improvements and share examples of good practice, patient involvement, and addressing inequalities and interventions that will support and develop care homes.

At the events we host our South West Care Home Awards to celebrate good practice, improvement and innovation across the region, in categories including ‘safety culture’, ‘exceptional leadership’ and ‘COVID heroes’.

The awards provide appreciation for the sector, and highlight some of the extraordinary work that care homes are carrying out to support their residents, families and the NHS.

  • Brunel House in Plymouth won the Care Home Workforce Award, in celebration of a care home that has built capacity and capability in 2022/23.
“Extremely valuable learning experience, thank you.”
