South West General Practice Indemnity Survey

A key concern within general practice is the cost of indemnity increasing to an unsustainable rate. In the South West region (Cornwall, Devon and Somerset) other practitioners, as well as GPs, are impacted by the costs and availability of indemnity cover. Acknowledging the recent National GP Indemnity Review, the South West Academic Health Science Network and NHS England are working together to explore the idea of the South West becoming a ‘test bed’ for an indemnity cover new model of care which meets the future needs for general practice.

For the right solution to be found, it is important for us to first obtain some information about your indemnity cover. A quick survey for all practitioners working in general practice has been developed to ask about current and historical indemnity premium. The survey launched on 30 September and will run until 21 October.

You can assist in finding the solution to the rising cost of indemnity premium by completing the survey here.

Results of the survey will inform the Indemnity-Finding a Solution Workshop led by Dr David Geddes, Head of Primary Care Commissioning, NHS England on 29 November, 08:30-12:30, Exeter Racecourse. Find out more information and sign up for the workshop here.
