The South West Academic Health Network (SW AHSN) and the South West Patient Safety Collaborative (SW PSC) are delighted to announce that two members of the Patient Safety team will be presenting at November’s Patient First conference in London Excel on 22 – 23 November. Patient First is the UK’s largest patient safety event for those operating within the NHS and independent healthcare sectors, aimed at giving practical advice needed to create action for change. Jo Pendray, Patient Safety Lead, SW AHSN and Matt Hill, Consultant Anaesthetist, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust; Regional Patient Safety Lead at SW AHSN will be presenting on the SCORE survey and LIFE system on 23 November from 12.05 – 12.50.
Also presenting at the conference from the SW AHSN will be the Managing Director, Dr Rosie Benneyworth. Rosie will be sharing a joint plenary session with the Health Foundation and Sign up to Safety, on 22 November at 09.55 – 10.50, entitled Building Patient Safety Capacity at a Local Level.
Jo Pendray explains: “We have been running the SCORE survey for some time now and we have seen an impressive take up across the region as well as associated patient safety benefits, which we are really excited about sharing with our audience. We will also be talking about the LIFE system which is used across the UK to run quality improvement projects.”
The SW AHSN aims to improve and sustain the healthcare system in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and Somerset for current and future generations of patients, while prioritising on finding solutions for problems which affect the largest numbers of patients and put the greatest stress on our healthcare system in the South West. It runs a wide range of events which help give an insight into the skills and practical tools needed to run quality improvement projects. The South West Patient Safety Collaborative exists to create a culture of continuous quality improvement across the South West. Hosted by the South West AHSN, we value our partners and work continuously to improve patient safety across the whole system.
