Working Together, Learning Together – Developing inter-professional education and training in primary care.
Presenter: Dr Daisy Robinson, GP
Date: Monday 17 October 2016
In this session, Dr Daisy Robinson, a GP who has recently completed a GP Leadership Training Extension (ST4) year with Health Education South West, gives an overview of her project to develop inter-professional training opportunities across primary care teams within Newton Abbott locality in South Devon.
Inspired by an interest in joint working amongst GP trainers, the project considered how greater collaboration around education might look for the wider primary care workforce. It sought to highlight current variation and overlap between CPD, training and education needs and provision across community and practice-based primary care teams in one locality, and tested innovative and locally- driven ideas for change.
A key outcome was the locality’s first multi-professional primary care education event. With time and resources limited, it is a story of how enthusiasm, listening, understanding and sharing innovation can lead to early positive results.
