SW AHSN Supports eWellbeing Innovation in Cornwall

Smartline is an exciting new partnership project which has secured £4.7m of European Regional Development funding from the European Structural & Investment Fund. The project will encourage the development of new technologies inspired by the wellbeing needs of local communities. Smartline aims to identify the requirements and market potential for new eWellbeing products and services, to stimulate business development, identify skills gaps, and create jobs.

The collaborative bid was led by the University of Exeter, with Coastline Housing, Volunteer Cornwall and Cornwall Council as partners.  The South West Academic Health Science Network (SW AHSN) is supporting the project with match funding and will work collaboratively utilising the SW AHSN healthcare innovation support expertise.

Smartline is currently mobilising and has already engaged with 20 companies interested in the project.

Stuart Monk, Interim Director of Innovation at the SW AHSN and member of the Smartline Advisory Board, said: “We are excited that the Smartline project has secured European funding and look forward to supporting this innovative project, which will do great work in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.”
