South West healthcare innovators offered valuable business advice at free four-day workshop

Healthcare innovators from the South West of England are invited to test out their business ideas in a four-day programme hosted by SETsquared and the South West Academic Health Science Network in Exeter this October.

Free to companies who meet the eligibility criteria, the Health Innovation Programme (HIP) is a comprehensive business support programme designed for healthcare and life science businesses at various stages of growth. It offers expert-led workshops that help business owners polish their proposition, write a compelling business plan, navigate the NHS landscape and find funding sources.

Since its inception in 2014, over 100 healthcare entrepreneurs have taken part in the HIP, many of whom have gone on to launch successful businesses which are making a real difference to patients.

HIP alumnus Laurence Pearce, CEO and co-founder of Xim Ltd – creator of Lifelight, an app which is able to measure patient vital signs in 60 seconds using just the camera built-in to smartphones, tablets or computers, said:

“The SETsquared Health Innovation Programme was invaluable. It was a privilege to be locked away in a room for four days to concentrate on our business model. It gave us time to plan and reflect, enabling us to identify and hone what we were actually doing, so we could fine-tune our elevator pitch and explain to customers what our technology does.”

William Lilley, Partnership Director, SW AHSN, added:

“Now into its fourth successful year, the HIP has proven its value to healthcare entrepreneurs who want to take their businesses to the next level. We are pleased to be working in partnership with SETsquared to bring the programme into the South West to support local innovators.”

The next HIP event will take place at The Jockey Club, Exeter Racecourse across the 30th, 31st October and the 7th and 8th November. If you’re a healthcare entrepreneur or business owner, find out more and apply for a fully funded place today here.

The deadline for applications is the 24 September 2018.
