RESTORE2™ Mini – Training for care home & domiciliary care staff, Torbay

This event is hosted exclusively for care home staff and domiciliary care staff in Torbay-based care homes, Devon.

The RESTORE2™ tool was designed to support homes and health professionals to recognise when the person they are caring for may be deteriorating or at risk of physical deterioration. It requires taking a complete set of physical observations to inform escalation. In settings where it isn’t possible to take clinical observations, the RESTORE2™ Mini is used.

RESTORE2™ Mini is a ‘soft signs’ only version of the RESTORE2™ tool. It is a printable A5-size guide developed by NHS West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group to help detect soft signs of deterioration in residents, facilitating earlier treatment and avoiding unnecessary transfers to hospital. The guide will also support conversations with GP and ambulance services.

The South West Academic Health Science Network (SW AHSN) is pleased to be working with its partners in Devon to provide facilitated RESTORE2™ Mini training through interactive training sessions. These sessions will be delivered virtually between a qualified trainer and your setting, to further upskill your understanding and use of the RESTORE2™ Mini tool.

To receive details on how to join these sessions, or if you have any questions about the training, please contact the South West Patient Safety Collaborative by emailing patientsafety@swahsn.com.

Recognising when a resident’s health is deteriorating is important, particularly at this critical time. Together the SW AHSN, local NHS clinical commissioning groups, county councils, and NHS hospital trusts are working to enhance the confidence of care home staff in detecting and appropriately escalating deteriorating residents. We are also seeking to improve communication between care homes and your serving GP practices to help reduce admissions where inappropriate. For more information and resources see the deteriorating patient page of the SWAHSN website.
