RESTORE2™ training – Care home & domiciliary care staff

This event is hosted exclusively for care homes and domiciliary care staff (who can take observations) in South West England.

Recently the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) released a new guide, COVID-19: Managing the COVID-19 pandemic in care homes. The good practice guide offers 13 key recommendations to help all care home staff and the NHS staff who work with you to support residents through the pandemic.

One of these recommendations advises staff in care homes taking vital signs to use the RESTORE2™ tool to recognise deterioration in residents, measure vital signs and communicate concerns to healthcare professionals.

We are pleased to be working with our partners to provide facilitated in-depth RESTORE2™ training through interactive training sessions. These will be delivered virtually between a qualified trainer and your care home setting, to further upskill staff in their understanding and use of the RESTORE2™ tool.

If you work in a care home or are a domiciliary worker and would like to receive details on how to join these sessions, or if you have any questions about the training, please do not hesitate to contact the South West Patient Safety Collaborative by emailing patientsafety@swahsn.com.

Recognising when a resident’s health is deteriorating is important, particularly at this critical time. Together the SW AHSN, local NHS clinical commissioning groups, county councils, and NHS hospital trusts are working to enhance the confidence of care home staff in detecting and appropriately escalating deteriorating residents. We are also seeking to improve communication between care homes and your serving GP practices to help reduce admissions where inappropriate. For more information and resources see the deteriorating patient page of the SWAHSN website.
