South West Place of Birth: Can We Fix It?
Babies <27 weeks gestation have a 2-3 times higher risk of Severe Brain Injury and are 1.3 times more likely to die if they are born in a hospital with a co-located LNU/SCU compared to those born in a hospital with a co-located NICU.
It is a national ambition that 85% of all extreme preterm births occur in hospitals with a co-located NICU, however the SW region consistently miss this target.
In this interactive, in-person event we will examine the current IUT process across the SW region, challenge perceived barriers to transfer, hear from other regions with high IUT rates and explore what good could look like for the SW.
We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity to help develop and improve the IUT process in the SW, helping to support families and improve outcomes for extreme pre-terms.
