hepatoSIGHT
hepatoSIGHT is a case-finding search engine that uses existing data to enable clinicians to proactively identify those at risk of liver disease, often before they present symptoms.

It quickly and easily finds people who may have liver disease, and who would benefit from further investigation.
By finding people before they get ill, the NHS can end the late diagnosis of liver disease, saving thousands of lives and millions of pounds.
Details
hepatoSIGHT is a case-finding search engine that uses existing data to enable clinicians to identify those at risk of liver disease, quickly, with ease.
The tool can be tailored to specific criteria depending on local population health programmes and system capacity, including deprivation indexes.
The problem
Liver disease is reaching endemic proportions with up to 1 in 4 adults in the UK being affected.
Early diagnosis is challenging as most liver conditions don’t show any symptoms for years, all the while it can be getting worse, until one day you get very sick very quickly.
However, the subtle signs that hepatoSIGHT looks for that indicate a person may have liver disease are contained in routine blood tests that most people already have on record.
The good news is that the liver has an incredible ability to regenerate, so by finding issues early and getting someone on treatment, they stand a good chance of making a full recovery.
By proactively intervening, the NHS could save thousands of lives and millions of pounds every year.
Evidence
As a new technology, our evidence base is still growing. That said, we have presented abstracts regarding our findings at several international liver conferences including BASL, AASLD and EASL.
We are also currently commissioning a Health Economics and Outcomes (HEOR) study to measure the wider benefits of our approach.
