Health Equity Innovation Challenge 2022 – Apply Now!
The South West Academic Health Science Network (South West AHSN), is delighted to announce the launch of its second Health Equity Innovation Challenge for 2022 – an exciting initiative, established in 2021, to support innovators to improve health equity outcomes across the South West through innovation.
The Challenge offers up to three ambitious innovators grants of up to £25K, over a 6-month period, to fund their proposed solution and provides real-world evaluation support to help innovators to generate the evidence needed to bring their innovation to market.
The Challenge is open to all and, this year, seeks applications from innovators with solutions for improving mental health equity outcomes across Children and Young People’s Mental Health (CYPMH), with a specific focus on anxiety.
Across the South West of England, longstanding pockets of deprivation and child-poverty, combined with a complex geographical make-up of urban, rural and coastal communities, mean that children and young people experience variations in health and care outcomes, including accessibility and quality of care.
Children and young people who experience inequalities are far more likely to experience mental health challenges, such as anxiety, and are less likely to receive support for their mental health, resulting in significant personal and societal costs.
With improving outcomes across mental health inequity forming a vital part of the work of our Regional Health Equity Programme for Children and Young People’s Mental Health, the Health Equity Innovation Challenge provides a real opportunity for innovators in our region to step forward and help to close the gaps in health equity and address some of the challenges negatively impacting CYPMH in the South West.
South West AHSN Programme Manager, Rosie Graham, said:
We’re delighted to be launching our second Health Equity Innovation Challenge, which is part of our ongoing commitment to improve mental health outcomes for children and young people across the South West. The South West is an exciting hive of innovation and talent, and we look forward to seeing how applicants to the Challenge use their skills and experience to address the issue of anxiety across children and young people’s mental health.”
Applications for the Health Equity Innovation Challenge 2022 open on 7 June 2022 and will run for six weeks until the application deadline on Wednesday 20 July 2022 at 1pm.
